Your photo

Nothing is uploaded. Your photo is checked in this page and never sent to a server. It still works with Wi-Fi switched off.

What this can and cannot check

It checks the numbers only. The government page also needs the photo to be clear, in colour, unaltered and taken in the last month, and no web page can judge those.

Rule source: the UK government page "Photos for passports" says the photo must be at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall, and at least 50 KB and no more than 10 MB. gov.uk/photos-for-passports. We read it on 23 October 2026. Rules can change, so check that page before you apply.

Need to make a photo smaller, on your phone?

    Questions

    Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The page reads the file in your browser to count its size and pixels. You can switch off Wi-Fi after it loads and it still works.

My photo is over 10 MB.

Press "Make it under 10 MB" and download the smaller copy. It keeps the same shape and as much detail as the limit allows.

My photo is under 50 KB or smaller than 600 x 750.

Take a new one with the normal camera and check again. Making a small photo bigger does not add detail.

Can I use my iPhone to take it?

The government page says you can use your own device. Keep your head, shoulders and upper body in the shot and do not crop it yourself.
