Terms of use
These terms are short because the app is simple: it runs on your phone, keeps no account and holds none of your photos, or anything read from them, on any server. By installing or using Rollshelf (the "app") you agree to them. The app is published by Dinesh Kumar (the "developer").
1. Licence
You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, under the rules of the store you got it from. On iOS, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where these terms and Apple's EULA disagree, Apple's EULA wins for iOS users.
You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app or its bundled models, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms.
2. Free plan and Pro
The free plan sorts, searches and cleans up your whole library, keeps your documents behind your phone's lock, and shows ads: a banner above the tab bar and at the foot of the screen that appears when a job finishes, and, while Compress video is working on a free video, one more ad box (a native ad or a 300 × 250 banner). Compress video, Space saver and the Vault also offer a rewarded ad (after the free allowance: 3 more videos, 2 more packs, or 10 more Vault items an ad, up to 20): it is optional, it is shown only if you tap it, and it counts when you watch it to the end. If no ad can be loaded within about 5 seconds the use is granted anyway, at most once a day for each feature, so a missing ad never blocks a task; closing a loaded ad early grants nothing. There is no free trial; these are one-time allowances that never expire: your first 3 Space saver packs, your first 25 items moved into the Vault, and your first 3 Compress video copies are free; the next 3 Compress video copies are each earned by watching one rewarded ad, and the next 20 Vault items by watching up to two (10 items each). Pro adds Space saver (any month at least 1, 3, 6 or 12 months old, as you choose, any time), the photo & video Vault (any number of items) and any number of Compress video copies, and shows no ads of any kind. Unpacking a pack and putting a Vault item back are always free, with or without Pro.
Pro is sold as:
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase, valid for as long as the app is available on that store.
- Yearly: an auto-renewing subscription, billed once a year at the price shown in the app, with no free trial sold in the app (an invite-earned year on iPhone is described under Pro from invites). It renews automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings (the app's Settings → Manage subscription opens them); cancelling stops the next renewal and keeps Pro until the end of the paid year.
Prices are shown in the app in your local currency and may change; a change never affects a period you have already paid for. Apple Family Sharing is enabled for both products on iOS. Purchases are per app store and do not transfer between iOS and Android.
Pro from invites
Instead of buying Pro, you can earn a year of it by inviting friends (Settings → About → Invite friends, or the card at the foot of the Pro screen). Sharing your link earns nothing by itself, and nothing in the app is locked behind inviting.
- Who counts. A friend counts when they are new to Rollshelf: they install it and tap Join on your invite within the first 7 days after they first open the app. Each installation can join once, and one invite counts at most 10 joins a day.
- The year. When the third friend joins, you get one year of Pro. On iPhone the year is an App Store offer code that you redeem through Apple’s own sheet, and it starts when you redeem it, not when the friend joins. The sheet shows the terms: it is free for the year and then renews automatically at the yearly price shown in the App Store unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the year ends (Settings → your name → Subscriptions); nothing is charged during the year. On Android the year starts from the third join, is not a purchase and does not renew; after it ends the app returns to the free plan unless you buy Pro. A year is earned once per installation. A friend who joins gets nothing for it.
- Where it lives. On iPhone, once you have redeemed the offer code the year is an App Store subscription on your Apple ID, so “Restore purchases” brings it back after a reinstall or on a new phone. A code you have not redeemed yet is kept only by the app and our invite record: deleting the app, or moving to a new phone without restoring a backup that carries the app’s data, loses it, and so does Delete invite data, so redeem your free year first. On Android the year belongs to the phone it was earned on: deleting the app and installing it again, or moving to a new phone without restoring a backup that carries the app’s data, loses it, and “Restore purchases” cannot bring it back, because nothing was bought.
- Changes. The developer may change, pause or end the invite programme at any time. A year already earned is kept until it ends.
- Abuse. A year obtained by getting around these conditions — made-up installations, scripts, or anything like them — may be withheld before it is issued and, on Android, cancelled. An iPhone year you have already redeemed is an App Store subscription and is managed in your Apple ID.
What the invite programme sends and keeps, and how to delete it, is in the privacy policy, §5.7.
3. Purchases, billing and refunds
All payments are processed by Apple or Google. The developer never receives your payment details. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy: request one through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play (Order history). The developer cannot issue refunds directly and cannot see your payment method.
"Restore purchases" in the app re-reads your entitlement from the store. If Pro is not restored after a reinstall, contact the store first, then dinosdev1986@gmail.com.
4. Your content
The app never uploads your photos, your videos or anything it reads from them. You keep every right to them. The developer has no access to them and no licence over them. What the app does with them is described in the privacy policy.
5. What the app does and does not promise
The app reads screenshots and photos and guesses what they are and what they need. It marks a guess it is not sure of and lets you correct it, but it will sometimes be wrong: it may put a photo on the wrong shelf, misread a date, or put something useful under "Probably not needed". Check before you act on anything it read.
Photos and videos leave your library only through the operating system's own delete confirmation, which you see every time. Deleted originals may be recoverable from the system's Recently Deleted for a limited time; after that they are gone. The developer is not responsible for photos you choose to remove.
The app hands off to other apps (chat apps, browsers, calendar). What happens in those apps is governed by their terms, not these.
6. Space saver and the Vault
Packs
Space saver puts photos you choose into a pack: one zip file of smaller copies, or of the originals, each checked against its original.
- Where a pack lives. Before any original leaves your library, the pack is saved as a file in a folder you choose, named "Rollshelf Packs (do not delete)" — on your phone, in iCloud Drive or wherever you pick. On iPhone you save each pack yourself, through the share sheet. On Android the app writes each pack to the folder you allowed, and checks the file it wrote. Only then does the system's delete dialog ask about the originals.
- We never receive your photos or your packs. A pack goes only where you save it, and the terms of that place apply to it there.
- Deleting that folder or its files deletes the photos in them, and we cannot recover them. The folder's and the files' names end in "(do not delete)" as a warning. Keeping a pack safe where you saved it is your choice and your responsibility.
- Deleting the app. A pack saved to your folder stays there, and any zip tool opens it. A pack not saved yet lives inside the app, and nothing has left your library for it; deleting the app, or uninstalling it without keeping its data, deletes it. On iOS, offloading the app keeps it. On Android, "Keep app data" in the system's uninstall dialog keeps it, and the app's list of your packs. A pack not saved within seven days is discarded, with nothing removed from your library.
- Originals and unpacking. Removed originals go to your library's Recently Deleted (iPhone) or Trash (Android 11 and newer), where they can be recovered for 30 days. Android 10 has no bin, so there a removed original is gone for good. Unpacking puts a pack's photos back in your library; the app asks for the pack's file when it needs it, and checks it first.
The Vault
An item in the Vault is kept in the app's own storage on your phone, after the app has checked the copy and the system's delete dialog has removed the original from your library. Deleting the app deletes your Vault items: put them back first if you want them in your library. On iOS, offloading the app keeps them and your iPhone backup includes them. On Android, the system's uninstall dialog may offer to keep the app's data; Android's backup does not include them.
7. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including missed deadlines, lost data, or lost photos, packs or Vault items, arising from your use of the app. The developer's total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Updates and availability
Updates ship only through the App Store and Google Play; the app has no remote update mechanism. The developer may add, change or remove features. If the app is withdrawn from a store, Lifetime purchases remain usable on installed devices, and the developer will publish notice on this site with at least 90 days' warning where possible.
10. Termination
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it; that removes everything it stored on your phone, Vault items and any pack not yet saved included. Packs saved to your folder stay there (§6). The developer may end your licence if you break these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the courts of Chandigarh, India, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
Changes are published at this address with a new effective date. Continued use after the date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, delete the app and, for a subscription, cancel it.

Change log
- 15 October 2026 — §2: if no rewarded ad can be loaded a use is granted once a day without one; Space saver's age is the 1, 3, 6 or 12 months you choose, not only over 12 months. Invites, abuse: a year obtained by abuse may be withheld before it is issued, and on Android cancelled; a redeemed iPhone year is an Apple subscription.
- 2 October 2026 — §2: the free allowances. Compress video: 3 free copies, then 3 more by rewarded ad. Vault: 25 free items, then up to 20 more by rewarded ads (10 each). Pro for the rest.
- 30 September 2026 — “Pro from invites”: on iPhone the earned year is an App Store offer code, free for the year and then renewing at the yearly price unless you cancel.
- 29 September 2026 — §6 rewritten for packs: each pack is saved as a file to a folder you choose, "Rollshelf Packs (do not delete)", before any original leaves your library; we never receive it; deleting that folder or its files deletes the photos in them and cannot be undone by us; a pack not saved yet lives inside the app for up to seven days; what offloading and "Keep app data" keep. §10: packs saved to your folder stay when you delete the app.
- 29 September 2026 — New "Pro from invites" in §2: who counts, the year and when it starts, that it belongs to the phone it was earned on, that the programme may change or end (a year already earned is kept), and that a year obtained by abuse may be cancelled.
- 28 September 2026 — The opening line says the app holds none of your photos, or anything read from them, on any server, rather than none of your data: it now sends anonymous usage counts and crash reports to Google Firebase, which the privacy policy (§5.6) describes.
- 27 September 2026 — This version offers no bill, receipt or payment feature, so §5 and §8 no longer mention bills, amounts, payment apps, missed payments or late fees. §2: Space saver packs months over 12 months old.
- 27 September 2026 — §4 says what the app does with your content — it never uploads it — rather than that it stays on your phone, which a backup or your own sharing can change.
- 26 September 2026 — §2 now describes the plans as they are sold: no free trial, Space saver and the Vault in Pro with their free first uses, no 30-screenshot limit. New §6 on where packs and Vault items live and what deleting the app does to them. Apple's standard EULA is linked in §1.
- 5 September 2026 — First version.
